Your service or product has a unique appeal. It possesses qualities that make it stand out among your competitors. For a particular reason or a few, it is the best option for your ideal client. The trick—and the place where most of us trip up—is showing that to your audience. Marketing is often framed as the act of convincing. Actually, it is the art of revealing … and that is where copy comes in. Put on full display the ways you can solve your customer’s problem or support their aspirations, and the persuasion happens organically.

At Pearl & Wordsmith, we think of this as searching for treasure or mining a gem (or cracking open an oyster to reveal a pearl). We’re wordsmiths who love to write, but we’re just as passionate about clarity and brand cohesion as we are about pretty prose. In our world, they work together to form copy and content that drives sales through inspiration and delight.

Greta | Founding Principal

A greeting card devotee, fantasy novel fan, manual reader (yes, really), and poetry lover, Greta believes in the power of words. They can stir emotions, entertain, educate, and enamor. And that’s why they are a central part of marketing and advertising that produces results. Through a combination of storytelling and strategic thinking, Greta shows your audience why your offering is so special—while subtly conveying your brand’s personality and engaging the reader (or watcher; we write scripts!).

When she isn’t happily writing away, Greta is likely to be found reading a book, spending time with her husband, five beloved pets, family, and friends, or traipsing through the forest on the lookout for birds. She also has an immense appreciation for a great cup of coffee (or really any cup of coffee).

Eric | Principal

With decades of experience in a variety of fields and talents, Eric is a modern-day renaissance man. He majored in English in college, has built a dynamic career as an infrastructure engineer, and today writes as a formal return to a passion he has long cultivated in quiet enjoyment. As a subject-matter expert in a few niche topics (cyber security, finance, engineering, auto, and more), he is the ultimate asset when you need your content and copywriter to grasp nuanced material at the onset.

If the writing and other work is done for the day, Eric is probably spending time with his wife, four pets, and children (all grown; Greta is one of them!), tending to his lush garden, or cooking up a fantastic meal (he is famous for his chicken wings among family and friends).
